Two papers presented at SIGGRAPH 2024 about HDR video and capacitive touch sensing on 3D surfaces with a Best Paper Honorable Mention.

We are happy to welcome two new members in the Visual Computing Lab: Dr. Erika Pistolesi and Dr. Quirino Saraceni. Erika Pistolesi will work on the REFLEX project, while Quirino Saraceni will work on the OPUS project.

Three project proposals submitted by Visual Computing Lab researchers have been accepted in the ‘22 call for “Progetti di Ricerca di Rilevante Interesse Nazionale (PRIN). The three projects: REFLEX, EUPHROSYNE and OPUS, covering topics of innovative 2D optical digitization, Marine Biology, and Cultural Heritage, will have Federico Ponchio, Gaia Pavoni, and Marco Callieri as their Primary Investigators”

Francesco Laccone from @VisualCnr #ISTI-#CNR received the prestigious Nervi Prize at the #IWSS2023 (Italian Workshop on Shell and Spatial Structures) as talented young researcher working in the field of #shell and #spatial #structures.

Congratulations to Thomas Höllt from @tudelft and Gaia Pavoni @IstiCnr, who were awarded with the VRVis Visual Computing Award 2023 for their important contributions to help solve current issues in singlecell-biomedical research and marine ecology!

Eurographics conferred to VC Lab Head Paolo Cignoni the 2021 Outstanding Technical Contributions Award for his extraordinary technical contribution to 3D graphics!

The paper ‘Another Brick in the Wall: Improving the Assisted Semantic Segmentation of Masonry Walls’ by Gaia Pavoni, Francesca Giuliani, Anna De Falco, Massimiliano Corsini, Federico Ponchio, Marco Callieri, and Paolo Cignoni presented at the XVIII Eurographics Workshop on Graphics and Cultural Heritage (EG-GCH2020) has received the best paper award at the conference.

An Interactive Digital System was developed by Gianpaolo Palma and Eliana Siotto of the Visual Computing Lab of ISTI-CNR to explore the frescoed ceiling of the Loggia of Cupid and Psyche at the time of the COVID-19.
